Florida Moonlight is a white Fancy Leaf caladium variety. These shade
to partial sun loving caladium bulbs or tubers are great for adding
easy color to your late spring and summer plantings. Florida Moonlight
is considered medium to tall in height (1.5-2.5 ft). Florida Moonlight
caladium bulbs are tropical foliage plants that are easy to grow in
landscaping, pots and planters. Florida Moonlight caladiums have
large, bright, white leaves with few pale green veins in the very thin
green margins. Their overall appearance is white. Florida Moonlight
would show well behind low growing foliage or other shorter caladiums.
Florida Moonlight is a favorite for use in the deeply shaded areas of
landscapes because of it’s illuminating quality. White caladiums make
beautiful accents against other green foliage and brighten the dark,
shaded areas of your landscaping. Caladium bulbs originated in the
Amazon Basin, which is why they require and thrive in the warm summer
day and night temperatures. Caladiums are from the Araceae family and
mix well with other annuals, Hosta’s, ferns, and foliage.
epeat, do not
put them on a constant liquid feed program. It will cause toxicity
issues that are most noticeable in white varieties. Interveinal
browning will occur on the leaves and eventual death of the tissue
causing a "windowing effect". One application of 200 ppm at spike time
and again 3 weeks later is sufficient.
