White Christmas is a white Fancy Leaf caladium variety. These shade to
partial sun loving caladium bulbs or tubers are great for adding easy
color to your late spring and summer plantings. White Christmas is an
old, very hearty caladium variety that is considered tall in height
(2.5 ft). White Christmas caladium bulbs are tropical foliage plants
that are easy to grow in landscaping, pots and planters. White
Christmas caladiums have very large leaves with dominant wide green
veins on a white background with undefined green borders. White
Christmas would show well behind low growing foliage or other shorter
caladiums. White caladiums add texture and contrast and make beautiful
accents against other green foliage. They brighten the dark, shaded
areas of your landscaping. Caladium bulbs originated in the Amazon
Basin, which is why they require and thrive in the warm summer day and
night temperatures. Caladiums are from the Araceae family and mix well
with other annuals, Hosta’s, ferns, and foliage.

For a bushier potted plant (shorter and with more leaves) remove the
terminal, or main, bud. This is called de-eyeing, and is common in
commercial Caladium pot production. Moisten the soil well when
planting tubers. Soil should be kept slightly moist until sprouting
occurs. Usually the initial watering at planting time is enough until
first sprouts appear. After sprouting, water often and well. When
planting, mix in some ordinary garden fertilizer, such as 6-6-6 or
8-8-8, according to package directions. Any house plant fertilizers
will work.
